Pear Lake Wildfire Forces New Evacuation Order for 70 Mile House
More than 1,600 B.C. properties are already under evacuation order as the merged Pear Lake and Fiftynine Creek fires push north amid persistent drought conditions

Residents of 70 Mile House and nearby areas face a mandatory evacuation order starting Monday morning, as the Thompson-Nicola Regional District warns the Pear Lake wildfire is expected to grow overnight.
The blaze, part of the larger Big Bar complex in B.C.'s Cariboo region, formed after the Pear Lake and Fiftynine Creek fires merged over the weekend, now covering more than 66,000 hectares and forcing hundreds from their homes, including the village of Clinton.
Provincial officials say more than 140 wildfires are burning across B.C., with crews from Yukon, Alberta and Mexico arriving to help. Several highways remain closed, and an air quality warning is in effect for much of the province due to smoke.
