PSAC Opens 2026 Scholarship Program With 24 Awards for Members and Their Children
Canada's largest federal public sector union is inviting essay and creative submissions on AI, job loss and workplace solidarity

The Public Service Alliance of Canada, the country's largest federal public sector union, has officially opened its 2026 Scholarship Program, offering 24 awards to members and their dependent children.
The scholarships are divided among four categories: 14 are reserved for the dependent children of members, three for full-time members, two for part-time members, and five specifically for equity-seeking members, reflecting PSAC's push to broaden access to the fund.
Applicants are asked to submit an essay or creative piece of 750 to 850 words responding to prompts tied to today's labour landscape, including the rise of artificial intelligence in the workplace, job loss, and the value of union solidarity.
The deadline to submit an application is June 22, 2026, and PSAC has said winners will be notified individually once the review committee completes its assessment of all entries.
The union, which represents more than 240,000 workers across the federal public service and beyond, has run its scholarship program for years as a way to support the education of members and their families, and organizers say this year's expanded pool of 24 awards reflects growing demand.
